Val Thorens, a station in constant evolution

Located in a natural cirque, in the heart of the Vanoise natural park, Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe, inaugurated in 1971, it alone offers you a ski area of more than 150 km and opens up the doors of the largest ski area in the world "Les 3 vallées" with more than 600km of slopes!

Renowned for the quality of the snow and having state-of-the-art ski lifts, "the 3 Valleys" offer both powder and perfectly groomed slopes, there is something for all levels, from the skier / snowboarder beginner to world champion and Olympic champion: Jean-Frédéric Chapuis!

Culminating at 3420 m from Pointe du Bouchet to Val Thorens, and connecting the stations of Courchevel, Méribel, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Belleville and Orelle, it's more than 200 ski lifts, at your available for beautiful days on the slopes, but also, "Les 3 Vallées" guarantee quality snow cover due to the altitude with 90% of the area above 1800m above sea level, but also thanks to the snow guns (about 2200 ) covering up to 50% of the ski area.

Among the unique activities on the Val Thorens estate, you will find :

  • The highest zipline in the world: it starts at 3230 m, at the top of the Bouchet chairlift in the Orelle area, to connect the crest of Val Thorens, at 3000 m, at the top of the Funitel de Thorens, more '1km, this experience full of adrenaline allows you to live a flight, like a bird, which can go up to more than 100 km / hour, and this at 250 m height !!
  • Winter or summer, take off as a duo with the Bee! The double zip line descends the slope over 1800m with a flyover height of up to 65m! Pedestrians or skiers meet at the top of the Moutière chairlift!
  • The longest toboggan run in France: 6 km of track with a vertical drop of 700 m (from 3,000 to 2,300 m above sea level) an experience that you can have as a group with the Snake gliss!

Val Thorens is a semi-pedestrian resort where cars are allowed to circulate but not to park outside the car parks.

All of the resort's accommodation is at the foot of the slopes, the free shuttles being used only for trips within the village.





Access to the station

The resort of Val Thorens is accessible both by road and by air. 

You access the station by road via an expressway (national road 90), extension of the A430, from the Combe de Savoie-Albertville, by exit 41 (Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Bozel, Courchevel, Méribel) which is located near the town of Moûtiers. 

The station is then accessible by departmental road 117. 

In addition, the TGV arrives at Moûtiers - Salins - Brides-les-Bains station, from major French cities such as:  

  • Paris, distance from Paris 600 km, 4 h 30 min,  
  • Lyon, Lille or Nantes  
  • European cities :  London, Amsterdam or Brussels…,
  • And year-round by TER Rhône-Alpes. 

The transport time to the station is approximately forty-five minutes (taxi, transporter shuttles, bus).

By plane, the nearest airport is Chambéry - Savoie airport, located north of Chambéry and also highly served during winter weekends.

From Geneva airport (distance from Geneva 196km). The transport time to the station is estimated at around two hours and forty minutes (taxi, transporter shuttles, bus)
